Students Taking Exams

Our tutoring service provides the following high school tests:

  • CPS Selective Enrollment High School Exam

  • Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)

  • High School Placement Test (HSPT)

There are many high schools in Chicago, but among the most academically challenging are CPS’ Selective Enrollment High Schools. The Selective Enrollment application is a rigorous process and Tiger Tutor can help your child prepare to get the best score possible.


The Selective Enrollment High Schools offer rigorous programming for Chicago’s most academically advanced students and are some of the best high schools in the state. These high schools are free and open to the public. The application, scored out of a total 900 points, is divided into three parts: 7th grade academic grades in core school subjects (300 points), standardized test scores from the NWEA/MAP test students take in 7th grade (300 points), and the selective enrollment exam, which students take in 8th grade (300 points). Tiger Tutor currently offers tutoring for the CPS Selective Enrollment Exam, a critical part of this process. This is an important -- and often stressful -- time, and we’re here to make sure your child is well prepared for test day.

The CPS Selective Enrollment High School Exam is taken by all students going into 8th grade and helps determine admissions into CPS' Selective Enrollment High Schools. Historically, the test has never been released to the public. Tiger Tutor uses our own proprietary curriculum based on prior students’ past experiences with the exam. All services include a complimentary pre-assessment and post-test.

The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) is for students applying to private educational institution high schools such as The Latin School, Francis Parker, Chicago Lab School, British International, and more. The ISEE is a key component to private independent high schools across Chicago

​

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is for students applying to Catholic high schools, such as Loyola Academy, St. Ignatius College Prep, Holy Trinity, and more.
